Streaming Media System Design With A Video Summary

With the rapid development of mobile Internet and mobile intelligent terminal, streaming media services on mobile platforms such as video-on-demand are becoming more and more popular. However, the high cost of traffic charge and bandwidth limitations become obstacles. Meanwhile, there are many streaming video providers, but lack of management. Thus some content does not match the name or literal introduction of the video, which bring in extra network traffic overhead and bad user experience. Focusing on those phenomenons, this thesis did a lot of research and designed a new video-on-demand system which has video summary in order to improve the accuracy of the videos demanded and reduce unnecessary costs.This thesis analyzes current mainstream ways of packing media data, and selected the MP4 format as a data encapsulation format because it is widely used in video on demand system, and also designed and implemented a video summary of the index structure.After putting the new structure into normal MP4 files, the user can quickly access and browse video information. In order to push video summary to user in front of normal vedio, this thesis also need to modify the connection process of RTSP. This thesis chooses Android operating system as on-demand terminal for its open source and high market share. A streaming video player is designed on Android, which is capable of previewing video summary, so that the correctness of our system is verified.
