As the development of optical fiber communication technology, because of its tunable, narrow line width, well beam quality, high coupling ratio, good compatibility, low cost, good stability, the tunable fiber laser has been widely used on the optical fiber communication, sensor technology and medical applications. Currently, the research of tunable fiber laser has been mainly focused on narrow line width and the tunable wavelength range. In this paper, the optical very larger scale integrated (Opto-VLSI) based on tunable fiber laser was researched, which’s tunable range is from1530nm to1560nm and the output laser line width can reach0.0177nm. In addition, the ring cavity erbium-doped fiber laser with a Gaussian filter cavity was analyzed, and its theoretical, modeling, simulation and structural optimization were in-depth analyzed and researched. Some reference for further study of the ring cavity EDFL were provided.The main contents are as follow:1. From the interaction of light and matter, the basic principles of laser-produced were expounded. The ring cavity EDFL principle including amplification principle about gain medium of erbium-doped fiber laser and the threshold conditions were analyzed and discussed in detail.2. From the erbium-doped fiber laser based theory, the light traveling-wave rate equations in erbium-doped fiber were derived, and sub-foot wave method was used to solve wave rate equations in the time-spatial domain of the laser. The one-dimensional time-domain dynamic model and the corresponding numerical analysis procedures for a ring cavity EDFL were established.3. The ring cavity EDFL with a Gaussian filter was analyzed, Time-domain model was established and time-domain and frequency domain were analyzed,.The change of output laser power on time and frequency, the time-space evolution about N2and the cavity optical power were analyzed.4. Based on the above, the influences of different designing parameters on the characteristics of EDFL were analyzed. And designing the ring cavity EDFL has been optimized 5. The Opto-VLSI tunable fiber laser theory and experimental results were analyzed. The tunable laser worked in the entire C-band (1530nm-1565nm) and3dB bandwidth can reach0.0177nm.
