Wireless sensor network known as a fundamental part of the Internet of things has played a more and more important role in modern social life. Because of its low cost and great value, it has been paid more and more attention in the industry and information development and gradually goes from theoretical research to practical applications. But we have to face some problems in the application of the wireless sensor network. First, the size of the network is often too large; second, the network is often deployed in the environment of unattended and poor conditions, so effective monitoring on sensor network has become a very important aspect for its application. Considering the above background, the paper studies the research status of the monitoring and management of wireless sensor network, summarizes the related research achievements, and generalizes their advantages and disadvantages so as to establish the foothold of the platform, and puts forward the research challenges combined with the characteristics of the wireless sensor network.The paper completes the demand analysis on the monitoring platform of wireless sensor network. According to the requirement, we divide the platform into two parts, one is the server-side and the other is the node-side. The server-side is used to get the sensing data and configure the sensor network parameter through the graphical user interface; the node-side is used to transmit the sensor data to the server-side and to response to the user’s configuration. In order to realize these functions, the paper defines a set of communication protocol. The protocol contains uplink message format and downlink message format, which are used to complete the communication between the server-side and the node-side. As the communication protocol carries all the underlying routing protocol information, the wireless sensor network monitoring platform is independent of routing protocol.At the same time the protocol supports256message types, but at present we use only a dozen, so the platform has a good scalability.The paper also realizes the platform by programming. The server-side uses Java language; the sensor-side uses nesC language. The platform can realize the functions of reading sensor data, real-time data curve mapping, network topology and the setting of the network parameters such as sampling period, sleep duty cycle and so on.The wireless sensor network monitoring platform can avoid the "implicit synchronization", which often happens when different sensors send messages at the same time responding to the server’s configuration request, In the paper, using the sensor node ID, we devised a dynamic transmission strategy, which effectively avoids the occurrence of "implicit synchronization".The paper analyzes the functionality and performance of the platform and also verifies the superiority of the dynamic transmission strategy and the network parameters’influence on the platform performance.Finally, the paper described the application of this platform in the wisdom subway system.
