Liu Baonan, Chu Zhen, Jiangsu, Baoying, was born in Qianlong of the fifty-six years(1791), died in Xianfeng of the five years (1855),he wrote many books all his life, in the Leaning of Classics’ respect, untreated The Mao Poetry,The Zheng Manners, once he wrote The Mao’s poetry note, then wrote The Zheng Hermeneutical cases, and The book of Rites’annotation. From Daoguang of eight years,he started to write The Interpretation of Analects of Confucius until his death.Liu Baonan devoted his life to write The Interpretation of Analects of Confucius, at Daoguang of eight years (1828),when he tried the provincial examination,with Yizheng Liu Wenqi, Jiangdu Mei Zhizhi, Jingxian County Bao Shichen, Dantu Liu Xingen, Jurong Chen Li,they made a treatment of each one to wrote a kind of classics, and commentary it.Liu Baonan sent a plan to study TheAnalects of Confucius,from then on, he devoted his life to the writing of The Interpretation of Analects of Confucius, he haven’t finished it until his death,but continued by his son Liu Gongmian.It can be said is a set of Liu’s two generation scholars painstaking effort together,was finished into a book in Tongzhi of five years (1866). At1980s, Gao liushui in Tongzhi five years edition makes reference to The Interpretation of Analects of Confuciuswere produced, and published by Zhonghua Book Company, become the prevalent book ofThe Interpretation of Analects of Confucius.The Interpretation of Analects of Confucius scripture text is according to Xing Bing’s Analects of Confucius’annotation, the part of the annotation is continue to use He Yan’s Analects of Confucius collection, retained a large number of Han to Wei’s ancient note;and fully absorb the result of previous studies at the same time,especially the textual notes of scholars of Qing Dynasty; carry forward in the style of study, in the notes to exegesis, historical textual research and analysis the righteous; for the ancient note made a large number of dredging permits,TheAnalects of Confucius enrich the contents of annotation.
