Locomotives are important transportation and equipment in railway field, and their running affect directly the traffic security of the railway. Locomotive depots have to pay attention to potential danger after power and speed increasing, because of the increasing mechanical load of the body and running gear and the increasing heat which emit from devices. Because the limitations of the TAX2and it cannot be extended further more, the locomotive depots urgently need a security monitoring platform to integrate the new monitoring equipments.This paper begins from the analysis of monitoring platforms for the domestic and international current situation, studys on monitoring platform field demand, designs monitor platform structure. By induction of the communication bus and the data exchange of domestic main motorcycle safety and monitoring equipment manufacturers, monitoring equipments are divided into two categories. Class A devices use Ethernet to exchange data among them, class B devices use CAN bus exchange data among them, Ethernet/CAN gateway is used to exchange data between class A devices and class B devices. In order to meet high-speed data transmission requirement between the monitoring platform and the ground, WLAN is used to transmit data. On the basis of in-depth study of the platform communication, I designs equipments’application layer communication capabilities and protocols, including class A and class B devices’communication protocols and the protocol of the communication between the monitoring platform and the ground. In order to validate and test protocols, I took part in the development of the monitoring platform based on SCM AT91SAM9260and WLAN module, including the platform management/CAN gateway plug-in unit, record storage plug-in unit and wireless transmission plug-in unit. After finishing the relate softwares for these plug-in units, the platform management/CAN gateway plug-in unit implements the registration/unregistration function, the record storage plug-in unit implements the storage/reading function, and the wireless transmission plug-in unit realizes the wireless transmission function. Finally, I build a minimum platform system with these plug-in units after referring to the platform’s design.When the monitoring platform has been successfully established, I had done parts of basic functional tests. Results show that the protocols’design is correct. The protocols meet the requirements of the platform to communicate and achieved the expected goals.
