China has entered into the aging society. Older population continued toincrease, however, the domestic is lack of service facilities that are specializedfor old people, as well as the service organizations and personnel. To improvethe elder’s self-help ability is an effectively way which can relieve the greatpressure coming from the aging society. On the other hand, along with thedevelopment of social civilization, the value concept of "Enjoying Life" becomespopular among elderly people, they put forward higher request to the design ofthe products. The practice and use of ergonomics is an important auxiliary meansin the field of engineering and design,it is a significant guarantee to realize goodcompatibility between the creation and the users. Therefore, humanized designbecomes an important aspect of promoting the industry for the elderly. This article takes people at the age of60to70as target population. Throughthe analysis of characteristics and needs of the elderly, and the analysis of theposture they use these traffic tools, we have designed one kind of device to assistthe elder in travelling based on the theory of ergonomics. We researched the change of physiological characteristics and psychologicalcharacteristics of the elder, such as their stature, motor function, cognition andaesthesis. At the same time we probed into the relationship between the elders’needs and the product modeling design, using semantic finite difference method. The changes of elders’ human body sizes and declining movement ability are allset new requests to the product design. Besides, their visual perception, attentionand memory are obvious aging, and their emotional mood and interest preferencehas changed a lot, which contributed to their security, belonging, independentsense and the aesthetic experience psychological demands. Therefore, theinterface and style design should be consistent with these changes.Besides that, according to the detailed analysis of the elders’ comfortabledriving posture and the standing posture, we got that in what ways human dimensions and joint activities range to affect the product size. The old people’sdriving comfortable position affects the size and spatiallocation between theparts, and the Standing posture provides design basis for the auxiliary device.Comprehensive above researches, from two aspects of function and form,we summarized some design elements that were necessary for the product, andproposed in the function that can assist the elder in standing up smoothly andparts of design parameters of this device. In addition, constructed an interfacedesign strategy and applied it to the design practice. On this basis, we presenteda case with auxiliary standing function and easy-control interface to prove theusability of the study. This function and form can meet the elders ’ physiologicalrequest and psychological experience, such as convenient travel, safety, comfortand aesthetic. The article tries to combining theory with practice, and providing areference for the similar product design.
