Study And Development Of An Android-based STB Simulator

The past decade is a period of rapid development of digital vedio broadcasting in China. With the great advances of electronic technology, STB(set top box) has been constantly updated and improved. Meanwhile, Google’s open source operation system on mobile terminals Android has leapt to the world’s largest share on the intelligent platform market, which has thousands of extended applications and loved by developers and users.This article discusses the possibility and advantages of porting Android system to STB, and focuses on the methods and processes of parsing TS stream and MPEG-2vedio on Android. Having Decoded MPEG-2on Android system means the porting metioned above becomes more realizable. Therefore, the Android-based STB simulator will bring great convenience to STB application software developers.
