The future mobile communication network will follow the all IP heterogeneous wirelessnetwork direction of high-speed, broadband, cooperation and ubiquitous. It can meet theusers’ multiple and personalized services needs, solve the problems such as frequencyresource shortage, realize the seamless mobility between heterogeneous networks. One ofthe key technologies of heterogeneous wireless network wireless resources management--access selection algorithm, which can analyze the network state and user need, and keepusers access the most appropriate and effective wireless access network, and both let usersget satisfactory services, and use the entire network wireless resources efficiently, plays animportant role in the heterogeneous wireless network integration field, is currently a majorresearch topic.Through the study of the present situation, this paper found in the present studyexistences problems that algorithm results are obtained from the simulation statistical insteadof theory analysis, and the queuing theory evaluation performance, but not for the future allIP services, and so on. For all IP services, this paper innovatively evaluation and analysis thesystem performance through the queuing theory in the heterogeneous wireless Internetaccess selection algorithm, and has instructional meaning for the design of the network. This paper proposes an alterable transmission units-based access selection algorithm inLTE/WiMAX integrated heterogeneous wireless networks. The novel algorithm usestwo-dimensional resource units to calculate system capacity; queuing theory to establishthree-dimensional Markov queuing model, analyze and evaluate system performance; loadtransmission and alterable transmission units are applied to distribute system resourcesreasonably, which makes the system more effectively in serving all IP services, so as toimprove the performance of non-real-time services and the whole resource utilization of thesystem. It is observed from simulation results that the novel algorithm can significantlyreduce the blocking rate of non-real-time services and increase resource utilization withoutaffecting performance of real-time services. In order to make the algorithm more corresponding to the actual network, this paperproposes an improved alterable transmission units-based access selection algorithm inLTE/WiMAX integrated heterogeneous wireless networks. Base on two-dimensionalresource units, load transmission and alterable transmission units, the novel algorithm usesqueuing theory to establish four-dimensional Markov queuing model, analyze and evaluatesystem performance. It is observed from simulation results that on the basis of the alterabletransmission units-based access selection algorithm, the novel algorithm can distributesystem resources to services more effectively, and further improve the system performance. The research work of this paper could provide references for the design of accessselection algorithms for heterogeneous wireless networks.
