With the development of science and information technology, people havealready entered “the era of experience economy” and experience has currently becomea concerning social issue. In virtual experiments, autonomous learning has been themajor learning style for learners. Therefore learners’ experience caused by theinteraction design of virtual experiments is gradually becoming one of the key factorsthat affect the teaching quality and learning effect for both sides.Currently, researches about the interaction design of virtual experiments generallyemphasize on technology development, but are deficient in relevant aspects oflearners experience in virtual experiments."Natural Interaction" proposed by thefamous psychologist Norman is the new design concept in the field of product design, which advocates considering from the users’ point of view and focusing on humanexperience. This study attempts to introduce this concept into the interaction design ofvirtual experiments, in order to seek a feasible project to improve and optimize thelearners’ experience.Through analyzing the interaction design and the theories of natural interaction, user experience and emotional design, this paper proposes the concept about naturalinteraction of virtual experiments. According to the classification of product design inemotional design theory, the learners’ experience in interaction design of virtualexperiments is divided into sensory experience, behavioral experience and emotionalexperience. On this basis, it constructs the theoretical model of interaction design ofvirtual experiments, and formulates the design principles of interaction design ofvirtual experiments combined with “availability”, so as to guide the interaction designof virtual experiments. According to the different experience of learners, this studyselects the “virtual demonstration experiment of physics” as a case for naturalinteraction design, in order to present the concept of interaction design of virtualexperiments more specifically. The organizational structure of the paper and details of each chapter are asfollows:The first chapter briefly introduces the background of this research and analyzesthe shortcomings of the current virtual experiment through typical cases. It alsosummarizes the research status and several existing problems of interaction design ofvirtual experiments, through looking up both the domestic and foreign literatures. Then it reveals that the lack of interaction design and the poor experience of learnersare core problems of the networked virtual experiment, which need urgent solutions. And the research on the natural interaction design of virtual experiments is conductedbased on the aspects shown and then expounds the research objectives and methods. The second chapter summarizes the connotation of natural interaction based onthe systematic analysis of interaction design and natural interaction theory. Then itproposes the concept of natural interaction of virtual experiments on analysis of thetheories of user experience and emotional design, and elaborates on its characteristics. The third chapter analyzes in depth the learners’ experience of natural interactionof virtual experiments on the basis of learners’ cognitive characteristics from theperspective of cognitive psychology. Combined with the theory of “Hierarchicalmodel for interaction in distance learning”, it constructs the learners’ experiencemodel based on natural interaction of virtual experiments, in order to explicate thesensory experience, behavioral experience and emotional experience of learners.Meanwhile, it analyzes the interaction law between teaching and learners’ experiencein natural interaction of virtual experiments. Moreover, it also constructs the learners’experience-driven model based on natural interaction of virtual experiments by usingthe method of system dynamics, so as to make further analysis of the elements anddriven relationships which affect learners’ experience. In addition, it formulates thedesign principles of interaction design of virtual experiments combined with“availability”.The fourth chapter selects the “Virtual physical demonstration experiment” as acase and follows the design principles for natural interaction design on the basis of thetheoretical model of interaction design of virtual experiments. The contents include: the design based on learners’ sensory experience, the design based on learners’behavior experience and the design based on learners’ emotional experience. The fifth chapter summarizes the main achievements and shortages in thisresearch, as well as evaluates and reflects on the questions appeared in this study. Atlast, it determines the direction of further research.
