Research And Realization Of Automated Testing Platform Based On STAF/STAX

Software testing is an important means of guaranteeing software quality. Along with the rapid development of computer technology, the complexity of the software is getting higher, the traditional manual perform tests show many limitations, and faced up with this requirements the test automation technology comes out.Developed by IBM, the STAF (Software Testing Automation Framework) software testing framework in the field of automated testing demonstrates outstanding advantages. The STAF is based on reusable components technology, and these reusable components is called services. The STAF can realize distributed software automated testing which is cross-platform and cross-language. The STAF is highly scalable,so people can easily build a practical automated test platform according to the user’s specific business.STAX (Software Test Automation execution Engine) is the execution engine of STAF, it can provide friendly interactive interface. Essentially, STAX is an external service of STAF, by receiving the request of STAF executes the automated test scripts task.This paper is the research and realization of automated testing platform based on STAF/STAX. Firstly, according to STAF/STAX, designing the overall architecture of the platform and the module structure in line with the needs of automated testing, then introducing software testing management tool QC (Quality Center) managements automated test scripts; Secondly, describing the function and realization of each module s internal structure; Afterwards, introducing the development process of the background reusable component part and the automated test script part; Finally, applying the automated testing platform to an actual system, realizing the automated testing capabilities in related business and verifying the availability and reliability of the platform.In all, the feature of this platform is cross-platform, cross-language, distributed execution and highly practical in the field of automated testing.
