With the rapid development of remote sensing control technology, the amount ofinformation for telemetry data is more and more. And it is necessary to take up a lot instorage space, larger bandwidth in the transmission, and as soon as possible to processdata. The problem is solved by data compression technology. In the receiver, remotesensing data’s characteristics have lot information and parameters. According, highreliability is required that this paper puts forward the LZW compression algorithm is asuitable for the characteristics of telemetry data. A design and hardware realization ofcompression system based on telemetry data. It is deviced for software developmentplatform by QuartusⅡ.And it dopt at VHDL hardware language to description.Through the data compression, which can improve the rate of transmission, to reducefrequency of the transmission and band bandwidth, and to save memory.Through the analysis of the remote sensing data of the characteristics and a lot ofdata compression algorithms, it chooses the LZW compression algorithms. It hasfaster coding speed, simple logic structure and adaptive function. In the hardwareimplementation, this paper designed the telemetry data compression system anddetailed description of the function of each module. FPGA chips are one ofCycloneⅡthe EP2C from Altera Company. Hardware logic the function module isdescribed by using VHDL language, and using QuartusⅡsoftware developmentplatform compiler simulation. By comprehensive and timing analysis, test thefunction of hardware compression system and performance analysis. The results areverified the correctness of the test data compression. In the realization of software,this paper designs software compression and decompression software. It adopt at Clanguage that is a higher efficiency by Visual C++ 6.0 platform. It introduced theimplementation process of compression and decompression for the test data. And itdesigned a interface of software, and it can compass document files effectively.
