In recent years, as the 3G smartphones are becoming more and more popular in our country, the number of 3G users of every telecommunication operator is increasing with a high speed, while China unicorn with WCDMA license will undoubtedly play the role of the leader in 3G. With the constant expansion of 3G users of China Unicom,its WCDMA radio network is also in constant construction and improvement. Due to the 3G data services are mainly in the Interior,the deepness coverage of its network is increasingly becoming an important element of competition. There is no doubt, indoor distribution system is the important solution to improve the deepness coverage of mobile communication network and enhance the user perception.Firstly we expound the background of this thesis and the main task and the structure of the article, and then briefly introduce the relevant technological basis of WCDMA and the indoor distribution system, mainly including technical principle, system structure, key technology, advantage of WCDMA and the status and important function of the indoor distribution system in WCDMA network, system structure, classification and so on.Next,we discuss the planning and design method of WCDMA indoor distribution, including the whole construction process,the method of the planning and location, the business model and analysis, uplink and downlink capacity estimation and propagation model, link budget and so on. Then we figure out the specialty of different kinds of signal sources and distribution systems, and compare within those sources and systems, we give the basic principles of choice for signal sources and distribution systems, and the switch design of the distribution system and the introduction of HSPA are analysed.As a result of China Unicom has already built a large number of GSM indoor distribution system, in order to save construction investment, avoid to repeat construction, the new WCDMA system can share GSM system. According to the actual situation of China Unicom--coexistence of GSM and WCDMA. we then discuss the thought of combining WCDMA with existing GSM system. Those feasibility problems which are detected in combining these two systems will be analyzed. And we also discuss the principles and steps of sharing the indoor distribution system,including the combining mode of the two systems,the reconstruction of feeders and antennas, switching scheme and so on.Finally, the author combins with his practical work, this article presents the design of the WCDMA indoor distribution system to achieve through the example of an indoor distribution system of Jingdezhen Unicom.we verified the planning processes, methods and design techniques on the above from designing ideas, designing standard, designing of the signal source, the analysis of the covering field strength and the analysis of the switching process. At the same time we prospect the foreground of the construction of WCDMA indoor distribution system and the construction with GSM system in several aspects.
