As the continuous development of economic globalization, a large number of companies and organizations expand their own branches with the pace of globalization. The economic globalization inevitably results in information globalizatioin, which substantially increases the demand for information. People have higher requirements for modern computer networks.How to build a network covering a platform completely for enterprise-level computer network is an important issue. The traditional enterprise network with specific line connection is difficult to adapt to the modern development of enterprise. Whether in the aspect of economy, flexibility, scalability, it can not meet the business requirements. So, it is urgent need to build private network with public Internet resources. However, due to Internet-based network based on TCP/IP protocol, the main consideration in the design is ease of use and openness, which lack of network security considerations. It is difficult to ensure the spread of data is not leaked and modified by others.In this context, Virtual Private Network technology is coming into being. VPN is favored by companies and enterprises because of using public network resources to build the internal network. VPN mainly includes two techniques:data encryption and tunnel construction. Therefore, remote access is as safe as access internal network.I was responsible for network security products and did many of testing of Security Routing Gateway. Meanwhile, I did a detailed functional anasysis and testing on VPN modules. The paper is finished and the content is divided into the following sections:1. The overall research of secure routing gateway. Firstly, it should be understand the basic functions of secure routing gateway. Besides, the role of VPN module in SRG (Security Routing Gateway) should be recognized. Secondly, a great deal of literature is referred. The background and current research of vpn technology which is domestic or abroad should be learned.2. The learning and research of the related VPN technologies. VPN involves a variety of security technologies and security protocols. The first study is modern encryption techniques, and then the common network tunneling protocol is researched, including the GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) and L2TP (Layer two tunneling protocol). The important work is analysis of two tunneling protocol packet structure, the main function and experiment. Finally, IPSec which is network security technology is studied further.3. VPN design and analysis of implementation. This section has finished a demand analysis and program design and specifies VPN functional requirements, interface requirements, performance requirements, design goals, the overall framework, etc. The implementation process of the main function of the VPN module is analyzed. The first is to analyze IPSec IP encryption module; then the implementations of L2TP and GRE, two tunnel-based protocols, is analyzed.4. Finally, experimental data is obtained by testing, which verify the contents of the analysis above, comparing the advantage and disadvantage of diffirent solutions.Finally, by the analysis and testing of VPN modules above, VPN concept has been impressed understanded more clearly. VPN solutions optimize the current network structure, which provide more secure communication for people’s lives.
