Insurance Accounting System Based On Pete Rules Engine Design

With the development of insurance market, the demand for enterprise informationalization has vastly increased in insurance companies. However, there are still a few defects and problems existing in enterprise informationalization system. Chartis insurance company (hereinafter be referred to as "the company") is the branch of AIG in Brazil. Accounting, which is needed to process data for the insured amounts according to certain accounting rules and then calculate various operational expenditures based on these data, plays an essential role in its corporate business activities. In the company’s original system, the relative accounting rules have been solidified with hard codes in the system after people elaborate their requirements. However, it is difficult to adapt to the changes in the market and policies, and furthermore, the system cannot be adjusted according to the changes, loosing a great number of precious market opportunities. Facing the company’s present situation, it is urgent to combat the system problems such as enhancing the system’s flexibility by separating application system and accounting rules & making the staff effectively and rapidly manage and maintain the accounting rules.Firstly, by analyzing the flexible accounting rules and continuously appeared new insurance products, it is necessary to find the definition of the accounting system, core functions, system processes. Secondly, by using the rules of engine technology based on the Rete algorithm, it is to analyze the framework of Struts+Spring+ Hibernate. Then we can make detailed design in the definition of accounting rules, rules editing, rules execution engine, rules management, data processing system. It is to summarize the system based on the flexibility, configuration, extensibility. One of the key points is to discuss the flexibility, high configuration. And it is also promoted the efficient management and operation of accounting by the separation of logic and data. Finally, through the application of the rules engine in accounting system, the speed of matching rules is to be escalated, accounting time is to be reduced, working efficiency is to be improved. It becomes possible to complete accounting operations within a few minutes, which was used to take 2 or 3 days.
