With the development of technology, wireless communication has become widely used in our lives. The mobile communication which made people can rapidly transmit the information they want in any time and any place,it has been fully applied in both military and civilian areas. As a key technology, RFIC is being widely used in those systems. With the reduction of feature size, the Characteristic frequencies of deep sub-micron CMOS technology is able to reach the level of120GHz, and the working frequency based on silicon CMOS technology has reach up several decade GHz band. The realization of high Q value on-chip inductors made it possible to integrate RF with System-on-chip.The Internet of things (IoT), which has been rapidly developed in recent years, is a network where physical objects connected. Meanwhile, the transceiver as part of the wireless communication module of IoT has been studied extensively. The mixer is the core circuit module of a transceiver SoC, its performance will affect the whole system. In this paper, the design of mixer for IoT SoC is intensively studied. The principle, performance, and circuit structure of the mixer is analyzed. Based on these characteristics, an optimized circuit structure is proposed, it is based on Gilbert type double balanced mixer. In this circuit structure, the performance and the linearity of the transconductance were improved. Also the bias circuit structure which is based on the bandgap current source is provide. The circuit design is based on SMIC0.18um CMOS technology. The Spectre RF of Cadence software is used for schematic design and simulation, after the schematic simulation is completed, the Virtuoso Layout Editor is used for layout design, the DRC、 LVS verification and RCX extraction were successfully carried out. The simulation results show that mixer has conversion gain15.55dB, noise figure7.06dB,1dB compression point9.83dBm with the power supply voltage1.8V.
