Coal is one of China’s major energy, coal enterprises are the backbone for the development of our country’s economy and is important support for rapid and continuous development of our country’s economy. Coal mine accidents occurred frequently as management and monitoring system is backward. Wireless sensor network is set of wireless communications, data collection and information processing functions and is the new distributed self-organizing network of data collection. Applying wireless sensor network to coal mine safety monitoring, will increase the level of coal mine safety supervision and management.Aiming at the problem that positioning accuracy of linear wireless sensor network is lower in underground coal mine, a localization algorithm of diagonal differential correction is presented which is based on RSSI. Based on analyzing the horizontal error and vertical error of nodes localization for linear wireless sensor network, the initial localization is achieved by maximum likelihood estimation method after using difference principle to correct measuring distance, and the mobile nodes’coordinate in the transverse is corrected by tunnel model of underground coal mine which was build using beacon nodes. The simulation results show that the algorithm has higher positioning accuracy and stability than traditional algorithm.Location and tracking system for target which has the target location, staff attendance, data query, historical track playback and other functions has been analyzed and designed by combining with technology of ZigBee and GIS. The simulation experiment has been achieved by using of the system. The results of simulation experiment show that the functions of the system are normal and the coordinate of mobile nodes have been accurate real-time obtained, and the practicality of technology for GIS and differential localization have been proved. The targets of paper have been achieved.
