Nowadays, the Internet has played an important role in human life. People find theclosely related information with their life, work and study through the network.However, the traditional search technology has some problems, such as lack of semanticunderstanding and unable to inquire knowledge, which makes it gradually fail to meetthe requirements of the customers. Therefore, people put forward the concept ofsemantic web, which aims to help people find the required information more accurateand more comprehensive with the way that machine can understand. The ontology as ashare of the conceptual model, has played a very important role.With the large application of ontology, how to effectively inquire the ontology andhow to reason to create new knowledge in the basis of the current knowledge becomethe research topic which arouses wide concern. Under the background of the armyinformatization construction, to realize the semantic query to military field informationwill have great significant. The research purpose of this paper is to apply the ontologytechnology to the military field and use the semantic query and reasoning techniquebased on ontology to achieve the deep inquires about military domain ontology. Thepaper discuss the specific function realization of the W3C standards SPARQL querylanguage, reasoning function realization of the Jena reasoner, and reasoning effect ofcombining semantic web rule language SWRL and reasoner Pellet. Based on these, thispaper designs and constructs a military domain ontology which is queried and reasonedon based on the semantic, and give respectively implementation code.The conclusion of this paper is that the Jena RDFS reasoner support the reasoningon basic structure of ontology, OWL reasoner add the support of the partial attributes ofOWL, and the flexible application of Jena can meet most of the reasoning requirements,nevertheless, in the professional domain ontology reasoning Pellet has more advantage.Pellet is an open source OWL DL reasoner based on Java which can work with Jena.Using Pellet combined with SWRL can deeply reason on domain ontology, becauseSWRL add the complex concepts and relationship which ontology language unable toexpress, and as part of the ontology can be supported by Pellet. As a result, theimprovement of the function of reasoning further enhance the ability of ontologyinquiry. By using the ontology editor tool Protégé to construct ontology, developmentplatform MyEclipse to process inquiry and reasoning work, it realizes deep semantic query about military field.
