With the large number of practical applications of power electronic devices and alarge number of nonlinear loads connected to the grid, a large number of harmonicflows into the grid. It makes that voltage and current distortion in grid and theenvironment of electrical equipment is polluted. It seriously affects the security of gridand electricity equipment. Passive filter can only compensate the specific number ofharmonics and will occur in series and parallel resonance and other shortcomings. Therequirement of capacity of active power filter is too high, so it has not widely used.Hybrid active power filter with characteristics of passive filter and active filter, hasbecome a research hotspot.The main contents of this paper is as follows: Firstly, describes the type of hybridactive power filter, this paper compares three control strategies and select thecomposite control strategy as a control method. This paper presents a new topology ofhybrid active power filter and mathematical modeling it and analyze mathematicalmodel to prove the validity of the new topology. It describes the effect on systemstability and harmonic compensation when choose different values of k. Secondly, thispaper introduces the principle and types of harmonic detection methods. It focuses onthe current detection method based on the three-phase instantaneous reactive power.The current detection method based on dq can’t be used for the three-phase voltagedistortion. This paper proposes a new type of current detection method based on dqand compares two methods of simulation show that the new type of current detectionmethod based on dq is effective. Thirdly, his paper introduces the control methods ofhybrid active power filter and explains the need of frequency dividing control. ItIntroduces PI-frequency dividing control method based on DC component. This paperproposes PI-frequency dividing control method based on BP neural network for theshortcoming of large calculation and more difficult to achieve. This paper comparestwo methods of simulation show that the PI-frequency dividing control method basedon BP neural network is effective. Lastly, the design of parameters of hybrid active power filter is studied in this paper. In order to verify the validity of the theory, theactual test data of the electricity from a company of Henan is used as an example toanalyze engineering. Using method which is gave in this paper and determining themain parameters. The results show that the hybrid active power filter can compensateharmonic for high-capacity circuit.
