The solid-state power amplifier using power electronic devices can achieve tens ofkilowatts to hundreds of kilowatt power output, which are in an increasingly widely range ofapplication in the field of high output power requirements.This paper studies the related technology of solid-state switch-mode power amplifier,and focus on its key protecting technology. Firstly, all types of power amplifiers (Class A,Class B, Class AB, Class C, Class D, Class E, Class F) are introduced, and the reason whyswitch-mode power amplifier can achieve so high efficiency is also analyzed. Secondly, theamplification principle and design method of solid-state Class D switching power amplifier isstudied, including the design of circuit topology, power synthesis method, driving circuit, andso on. Thirdly, the paper focuses on the protecting technology. A combination of multi-levelprotection is proposed, which is based on current sensing, driving signal locking and highpower solid-state switch. Next, according to the design, the protecting circuit is implementedincluding the design of the current detection circuit design, CPLD design, and the solid-statecircuit breaker design.Finally, computer simulation and actual circuit test verify the correctness and feasibilityof this design.
