With the development of computer technology、information technology、networktechnology, peoples’ life and production has had grate changes, especially the strongdevelopment of information technology and its related technology give the mostprofound influence on the world. Along with this development is the Internet、systemdatabase、knowledge base, and so on full filled with information in various forms(structured, unstructured, semi-structured), leading to rapid expansion of the amount ofinformation. Therefore, the information retrieval tools based on keyword mappingemerge as the times require, but they can not get satisfying information for users whenfacing with the vast amount of information. Information is the cornerstone of theInformation Age, which made people successful, but now we encounter more and moreproblems-full filled with too much uncertainty.Recently, with the emergence of the semantic web and the development ofsemantic web technology, research of representation of semantics and knowledgemodeling has also made some progress. Therefore, the semantic search which concernsnot only stick to the keyword itself, but also the search intent of the engine user, to getinformation more suitable to uses’ demand. This thesis does research of semantic search from the perspective of semantics, andcreates search model which based on ontology. Search engine “interprets” the text inresources for search using “symbol system” which based on ontology, so search isconsidered as the communication between search engine and author of resources.Method of making invisible semantics of word materialized and formalized in the formwhich computer can handle is created after the search model is created. Method ofscoring is proposed on this basis to determine the degree which shows how great thesearch engine “interprets” the resources for search, to decide the order of the resources. Finally, this thesis implements a prototype system to validate the feasibility and validityon the basis of research and design mentioned above.
