In the modern war, whether the nuclear-powered naval vessels or the conventionalpowered naval vessels are becoming more and more important. The naval vessels’fighting ability is directly related to the power system. The lead-acid battery provideselectricity for the naval vessels which are sailing underwater or firing weapons. Thecondition of the battery will have a directly impact on work of the naval vessels, socorrectly using and improving the conditions of battery has an important strategicsignificance. The battery under high discharge current can obtain higher capacity inhigh temperature. But if the temperature is too high, it will make the battery capacityand using life constrained. When the temperature rises to a certain value, the batterymust be coolled down to keep the best working condition. Therefore, it is need toinstall special cooling system for the naval vessels.This paper discusses the operating principle of the lead-acid battery water coolingsystem with the distilled water cooling battery system by flowing through the batterytank. According to the requirements of the proposed control system, the paper presentsa design scheme of the intelligent temperature control system. The system uses thesingle-chip ATmega128as the core of the control system. The paper also gives thedesign of the hardware and software’s system. The ATmega128single-chip processorhas inside integrated ADC and standard serial interface. System uses large capacityserial flash memory AT45DB321as a storage medium, combined with PCF8563chipfor real time clock, monitoring and recording time and temperature informations, andsend the informations to PC through RS-485serial communication.Because of the complex mechanism of the lead-acid batteries, water-coolingsystem has the obvious nonlinear, hysteresis and model uncertainty. The paper usingthe BP neural network to build a network model of the temperature of the battery,which reflects the temperature variation tendency and using the fuzzy adaptive PIDcontroller improve the control effectiveness. This paper introduces the hardware design of the system, including the circuit design of the control core, temperature gatheringand compensating module, the data storage module, real time clock module, button-display module, RS485serial communication module and output control module. Theexperimental results show that the hardware and software’s design of the intelligenttemperature control system on battery water cooling system has stable performanceand achieves application requirements.
