Adopting radar target simulation technology to testing radar performance is a hotspot on signalprocessing research both at home and aboard. Because of the competitive advantage of DSP, it is ofgreat value that applies DSP to critical application part of the signal processing units in radar targetsimulation system, considering its unique advantages on system real-time requests. Besides, with therestriction of sampling theorem, analysis of wideband signal calls an increasingly demand forhardware system, hence, it is also an important study that discussing a theoretical method to releasehardware system. This paper firstly discusses the main frame of the digital unit in the wideband radar targetsimulator, then presents the digital signal processing units DSP system with detailed analysis andmodule design. The main contributions of the dissertation are listed as follows.(1) We complete the compression and accurate reconstruction of the radar emission signal onTMS320C6416DSP, the core component in a DSP system. Doing this, we not only release thepressure of the simulator system but also achieve more practical significance compared withtheoretical simulations.(2) We complete the data transmission between the industrial personal computer and DSP usingthe embedded DSP interface and windriver PCI driver development tool. Compared with the situationof developing driver programmes with DDK and Driver Studio in reference [18][19],we reduce thedeveloping period to a great extend and meet the request of data rate of100MB/s.(3) We allocate the related registers in EMIF interface in strict accordance with sequencerequest to realize the data rate of400MB/s.(4) We apply the PDT method to realize the data communication between SDRAM and FPGAwith data rate of200MB/s without DSP.(5) We present a new direct programming method by rewriting programmes into off-chip flashfor auto-start. By doing this, we succeed in highly simplifying the programming process by avoidingfile format transformation and special programming tools which are a must in traditional methods.
