Pipeline transport as a safe, economic mode of transport, are widely used in China’s natural gas, oil and other energy transport. Because of long time of media corrosion and wear, pipelines can be damaged in a certain degrees, even may occur a major spill. Besides, the pipeline transportation security relations with the country’s economic and property safety, for this situation, pipe detector technology research and development is particularly important.In this Paper, we focused on the pipeline inspection gauge, using FPGA to achieve the high-speed parallel data acquisition and storage for the pipeline inspection gauge. First of all, according to the PIG external structure, we created the overall design of the data acquisition and storage system, including the fore unit of data acquisition, the mid unit of data transmission and the back unit of data storage. Then, we introduced the hardware implementation of the system functions, including the selection of the FPGA, PCI interface implementation, the function of the host microcontroller and its circuit, temperature and posture recording function, power supply module for the FPGA and the DCDC power conversion module of the system.Based on the hardware design of the system, we introduced the logic design of the Cluster FPGA and Master FPGA, including the interfaces and cache modules compiling in VerilogHDL. With these modules, the system achieved 16?5 channels of SPI data parallel acquisition,5 channels of LVDS transmission in high-speed and the PCI communication between FPGA and PC104 based on the PCI9054.Owing to the different data width and frequency between the interfaces, we designed the cache modules to achieve the data buffering with no interval.Due to the existence of the differential signal and PCI interface’s PCB design in this system, we discussed and analyzed the PCB alignment style of the LVDS and PCI signal. Then, we built the PCB of the Cluster FPGA board, the Master FPGA board and the signal connecting board depending this alignment style.At last, we carried out the hardware logic verification of the SPI transmission and PCI transmission, verified the reliability of data transmission in this system and proved the feasibility of FPGA in hign-speed data acquisition and storage area.
