As is one of the eight largest sugar-producing countries, however, China is still undeveloped relatively in sugar-producing area compared with other countries. The majority sucrose-refining product lines in domestic are still designed in the manner of manual operation, which have greatly affected the stability of product quality and the economy efficiency of sugar-refining enterprises resulting from the lags of observing technology indicators and the improper time for controlling the material valve due to the uneven of the operators’comprehensive qualities and sugar-boiling experience. Considering the manner of manual operation used in most domestic sucrose-refining product lines and the lines’bad conditions such as high-temperature, moist, electromagnetic interference and sulfide gas coexistence, the automatic sugar-boiling control system based on Embedded ARM-Linux and ZigBee is designed to solve these problems for promoting the quality and efficiency of production and so as to realize automatic sucrose-refining process. The outline of this paper is list as follows:First, a tree topology of network monitoring system is built in terms of ZigBee technology for the automatic sugar-boiling control system. Besides, relevant hardware and software of tuner, routers and terminal nodes are also designed for the ZigBee network as well.Second, the embedded Linux operating system has been successfully transplanted into the automatic sugar-boiling control system in terms of the sugar-boiling process requirements. And then the driver programming of devices such as LCD touch screen, USB, SD card, ZigBee, network card and so on are also have been designed completely.Third, a friendly graphical interface of the automatic sugar-boiling control system is designed in the terms of related Qt technical. To meet the variable needs of different operators, Qt internationalization, languages-switching technology and soft keyboard are also adopted, which can switch dynamically among different languages and offer great convenience to operators.At last, the functions of field data preservation and reading are realized with the aid of embedded database SQLite, which is helpful for checking and managing the data afterwards. It can also provide the manager with reliable approaches and proofs to gather statistic of how much material a can of sugar used and to calculate the rate of producing sugar, and meanwhile greatly increase the data security and help to prepare for the further applications.The test results show that the system can work stably and achieve the desired effects, and can also realize the whole automatic sugar-boiling process as well. Compared with the majority traditional-routing automatic sugar-boiling control system at home and abroad, the automatic sugar-boiling control system based on Embedded ARM-Linux and ZigBee we proposed not only decrease the wiring costs, but also can overcome the difficulties for wiring and the impacts of cable corrosion which generated by the terrible environment conditions at sugar-refining workshop. Meanwhile, the installation, maintenance and expansion of the system is convenient and flexible, which play an very important role in realizing automatic for sugar-boiling. In this way, the system can help to transform manual operation to automatic operation in the domestic sucrose-refining product lines and is also good for the technology promotion of automatic sugar-boiling industry as well. So we can see great practical applications and broad market prospects.
