Based On The Direction Of The Field Of License Plate Location And Character Segmentation

In recent years, with economic development and social improvement in the level of information, intelligent traffic management and thus become the development trend of the current road traffic. License plate recognition (LPR) is one of the important links of intelligent transportation system and it plays an important role in the system. Automatic license plate recognition system includes the license plate localization, character segmentation and character recognition. This paper focuses on the license plate localization and character segmentation.For automatic license plate location and character segmentation, this paper mainly do the following works:(1)Analysis now China’s various forms of license plate character, License plate area mainly have characters of some Chinese characters, letters, Numbers, the characteristics of rectangular area, Through its has rich vertical edges and borders parallel and upper body much line (such as front bumper, front window, inlet grid, etc) the parallel these characteristics .Proposed methods which based on shaft edge information and texture direction of license plate location,and selected candidate area. Realize the coarse position of vehicle license plate area.(2)Through the analysis of gray histogram characteristic of license plate candidate regional, Shen arithmetic on histogram will be for the kind of adaptive binary threshold, Binary processing candidate area.(3)In binary image, Using the horizontal and vertical direction projection method to eliminate the up and down or so the borders, thus will license plate character area accurate positioning out.(4)license plate region label binary chart of vehicle,and statistical each mark branch area, the width and height, remove the small area, Analysis the characteristics of these mark branch area. No matter what the width and height of the branch area much fewer, regional number will be accurately segment, whether it is the real plate area, or it is the false license plate area . It will have a good foundation of Character recognition.
