Since2004, our country has issued a new curriculum scheme about high school,and it has been carried out in some part of our country. The purpose of this reform isthat for the development of each student. So that, a new learning organizational formappeared, taking some measures on the curriculum design and implementation isnecessary. The so-called Class-Selection System means that, every teacher has his ownfixed classroom, according to the different abilities and interests, students have the rightto choose what class they can take. The Class-Selection System first appeared inAmerican, and it is popular in the world now. This is the ninth year of our newcurriculum reform, analyzing and studying some important experience from the U.S.Ais necessary. The paper gives an introduction about the curriculum design andimplementation in American public high schools through database research, comparisonmethod, case study method and so on. Curriculum provision, the character ofcurriculum system, graduation requirement and credits have been expounded with thethree levels of educational institutions, state education department, school district, andindividual school. The writer takes four schools as examples which are ranked within100in American Public High School Rankings in2013. The paper finally concludes thatit is a natural process that Class-Selection System has been appeared in America. It is atrue teaching mode that based on individual difference, which has established hundredsof courses in many different kinds of fields. This teaching mode trains students allaspects of the basic skills, it also fits the requirements of the international community tothe cultivation of qualified citizens. At the end of the paper, the writer analyses theadvantages and disadvantages of the system objectively. Combining with the fact of ourcountry, give some effective suggestions to curriculum reform of elementary education.The writer has divided the research into six parts.The first part: Introduction. Problem posing and research cases on theClass-Selection System, then define related notions.The second part: Introduction the connotation and the influencing factors ofAmerican public high school. The third part: Introduction of the current research situation of the Class-SelectionSystem in America.The forth part: Analyses of the effective experience of the Class-Selection Systemin America.The fifth part: Discussion of the inspiration to our high school curriculumrevolution.The sixth part: Conclusion.
