Up to2012,in Kampuchea, there have been around30,000students learningChinese in54Chinese schools, of which,11,050students are from Duanhua ChineseSchool which is known as the biggest Chinese school in Southeast Asia and engaged intraining excellent talents speaking Chinese for Southeast Asia. This situation is notcommensurate with Kampuchea’s economic position in Southeast Asia and that’ssomething to think about.According to statistics, textbook is one of the major problems in Kampuchea’sChinese education. At present, the papers on Kampuchea’s Chinese education can behardly seen within China and abroad. Most of the related papers are mainly concernedwith the research on current situations and tendencies of Kampuchea’s Chineseeducation but these papers just open up the status of Kampuchea’s Chinese educationat the macroscopic level and put forward some proposals without much reference tothe specific teaching orientation. This paper is prepared based on the teaching practice accumulated in this semester. In this semester, the author does not only learn about the special Chinese educationsystem in Kampuchea, but also understands Kampuchea students’ attitudes and idea inlearning reflected from their behaviors in learning through much talks and closercontact with students. For example, the author finds out in an investigation that the first Chinese learnersuse the same set of textbooks titled Huawen especially in the primary campus ofKampuchea’s Chinese schools. It is expected to work out the positive interactionbetween textbooks and teaching effects by analyzing this set of textbooks. Of course, these textbooks are not good enough to be a set of textbooks for long-term use but theauthor expects that the policy of using this set of textbooks titled Huawen can bepursued in Kampuchea’s Chinese education. Therefore, this paper also illustrates theshortcomings of this set of textbooks in the hope of providing a reference for itscompilation.
