Guiding students how to learn is an important task of mathematics teaching;therefore, strategy instruction is to be implemented throughout the course ofknowledge teaching. Cognition strategies are the basis of learning strategies and theyare teachable.This essay chooses sub-topic review to teach cognition strategies in order tocompare cognition strategy teaching with students’ questions. Students often feelconfused and lost when going over lessons, which is a sign of failing in applyingcognition strategies. The major aim of review classes is to help students sort out andreproduce their knowledge. If the students are able to apply proper methods toprocess information, then the development of cognition strategies can be promoted.The following researches are carried out based on literature study, investigationand case study.Form the foundation of further research by studying related theories ofcognition strategy, review class teaching and existing research results.Understand the situation of the students before and after the teaching practicein order to get a view of their ability to use cognition strategy and the problems aswell, which is conducted through questionnaires and interviews.To classify cognition strategies and choose sub-topics accordingly. To search forproper strategy teaching modes with the sub-topic review as an entry point. To findout the relationship between sub-topics and cognition strategies and sum up thespecific methods of operation of recitation strategy, machining strategies, andmigration strategy.To argue the relativity and practicability of the sub-topic review and thedevelopment of cognition strategy in mathematics with questionnaires, case studyand data analysis.The results demonstrate that this research can help students enhance theconsciousness of applying cognition strategies, get familiar with mathematicscognition strategies and their operation. It is especially useful for those mid-level students, and is helpful in making up those high-level students’ recitation strategy,but it doesn’t work well with those lower-level ones.Although various ways are employed to boost the development of cognitionstrategy; it’s not rare that teachers will introduce cognition strategies in their classes,and the lesson mode like self-exploration and cooperation reflection is not initiative,this sub-topic review mode still has its own superiority both in innovation andfeasibility:It’s a practical way to combine strategies and teaching contents by means ofsub-topic review.It is able to program and visualize strategy study not only for the sake ofteachers but also for the students to understand and reproduce by sub-topic reviewmode.The results of a lesson which combines review and strategy study together canbe doubled.
