Professor Zhu Yongxin, who initiated the new educational experiment, has proposed that"a person’s history of mental development is his history of reading”. For middle schoolstudents, reading plays a role which can not be replaced by the classroom teaching anddisciplinary activities. It is the call of times to read extensively and build one’sideology. The Chinese teaching, in particular, the extracurricular reading teachingresearches turns to enrich the spiritual world of students with the classic reading.Throughoutthe study of domestic and international classic reading strategies of the middle schoolstudents, there exist the following problems. On one hand, the researches are relativelysimple: they fail to make extended reading by connecting the textbooks and students’extracurricular life, merely focusing on the analysis of some specified readingmaterials. On the other hand, the mainly seek a breakthrough by motivating students to readextensively and planning reading activities instead of considering how to effectively promoteand implement reading activities. The varied reading forms can not make up for the loss ofreading instruction and reading effects. This study takes “Language Curriculum Standard Version (2011)” as the theoretical basis, summarizes such existing problems of extracurricular reading as “short reading time”,“poorreading quality”, etc. through the questionnaires, and analyzes the reasons that affectreading from three aspects:students, teachers and society.Furthermore,it explores somepractical strategies to promote reading:1) in terms of less reading time, poor quality andblind reading, the study proposes the strategy of "integrating the selected reading materialsby tailoring and expanding materials to make the serialization and divergent reading patterns;2) in terms of the undesirable status of the reading channel and content, it puts forward toadopt the strategy of “widening reading channels to make technology-driven, multi-patternreading through a combination of text and network”;3) in order to keep students interested inextracurricular reading, and strengthen the process of reading instruction, using the strategyof "activating reading form, promoting reading interest through activities and makingreading activities with interest come true”;4) for the purpose of effectively improving thedepth of reading, the study employs the strategy of "enhancing the reading requirements, achieving the depth of dialogic reading by the combination of reading, writing and evaluation", making reading, writing and evaluation integrated;5) with the purpose ofmaking the classic reading regular and normalized, the study takes the strategy of "raisingthe reading status, making reading become curriculum courses” in order to ensure the"reading" status."Pleasure reading" attaches more importance to reading level, quality, state of mind andeven mood than the ordinary reading model. Interest is the basis of "reading", content andmethod are the “two wings” of “pleasure reading”.“Pleasure reading” should not onlyunderline the interest of reading, but also reinforce the reading process and results. Thestrategy research for promoting middle school students to read classic works after class ismade on the basis of the students’ physical and mental development laws and Chineselearning patterns. It is helpful to change students’ fast food-style reading and their sufferingfrom reading classics; it is conducive to help more and more students enjoy reading, readautomatically, and benefit from reading, getting into the state of “pleasure reading”; it alsocontributes to changing the stereotyped opinions of "reading is an extracurricular activity, which is a waste of time and too difficult to improve the immediate reading effect”, gettingreading out of dilemma, achieving the normalization of the classic reading....
