The individual’s mental health is not only related to personal growth, butalso with the future and destiny of our country, as a student, classroomeducation and subject learning affect the level and the degree of their mentalquality directly. Specific to the foreign language teaching, the mental qualityeducation can be embodied in many aspects of teaching, arousing theenthusiasm of students, cultivating their confidence, willpower, optimisticattitude towards life. The students of good mental quality will maintaininterest and motivation on English learning, and take the initiative to controlthe whole process of learning. Mental quality of students is the basis ofEnglish teaching, and English teaching provides platform to mental qualityeducation.The full text is divided into five parts:The first part described the background and research issues, whichincluding three basic aspects, background, significance and methods ofresearch.The second part discussed the basis study, which including the generaltrend of international foreign language curriculum reform, the internationalbackground of senior high school English curriculum reform, the situation ofhigh school English teaching in China, and the significance of students’mental quality education.The third part discussed the relationship between English teaching andmental quality education.1. Students’ mental quality is the foundation ofEnglish teaching;2. English teaching provides the platform for the mentaleducation.The fourth part discussed the theoretical basis of mental qualityembodied in the teaching of foreign languages.1.
