| With the development of society, China’s tennis sport is increasingly geared to international standards. Tennis is a charming sport integrating competitiveness, culture, ornamental value and participation, and is attracting more and more tennis enthusiasts with its beauty in terms of strengths, art, figure, clothing, environment and with its intensity in competition as well audiences’civility. However, due to the fact that the physical requirements are set relatively higher for tennis participants,it is rather difficult for college students to master the skills through self-study. In addition to the factors such as venues and match atmosphere, the teaching of tennis in colleges can hardly achieve the desired effects.Since the2004Athens Olympics where China’s women’s tennis doubles Li Ting and Sun Tiantian won through and since the2011French Open where Li Na achieved a grand slam, the prospects of the development of tennis in China has received much attention again, and our society has given higher and newer requirements for the training of tennis talents. The role of the college public elective course on tennis which is an important part of tennis talent training in meeting the social needs of tennis talents is becoming more and more evident. Therefore, developing a good tennis public elective course in colleges is crucial to the development of tennis in China. After consulting a great amount of books and research findings related to training, education, physical education, and those of training goals, curriculum setting, teaching content reform of physical education in colleges as well as of college tennis teaching and scientific writings, and based on the questionnaires and interviews oriented to students and teachers in public selective course on tennis and teachers in charge of supervising tennis venues in Chongqing’s eight universities including Chongqing University.Southwest University. Chongqing Normal University,Chongqing Jiaotong University.Chongqing University of Science and Technology.Chongqing Technology and Business University,Chongqing University of Technology and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, coupled with the data of students physical fitness test in combination with the literature data, the thesis, by using mathematical methods, has made a classification and statistic analysis of the situations of students that have selected the course, teachers that are giving the tennis lessons, and teaching methods, teaching environment, tennis teaching books, teaching evaluation, etc. And on the basis of the findings, it figures out some appropriate solutions to the problems. The findings reveal that among the colleges in Chongqing there are less than half of them can ensure normal development of the tennis course, and all the colleges that offer tennis courses have many disadvantages such as few training venues (especially indoor venues), poor equipment condition, less training time, unbalanced professional levels of teachers, and differences in students’ number and class hours for one tennis course, which have resulted in the uneven development of Chongqing tennis teaching, and the effectiveness of teaching can not achieve the desired results; moreover, since the tennis teaching methods and forms are monotonous and stiff, this has significantly decreased students’enthusiasm and passion in class, so that their progress made is not obvious. Based on the problems and shortcomings that exist in the tennis teaching in Chongqing’s colleges, the writer puts forward some rational recommendation:adjusting the proportion of technology courses and theory courses, and paying attention to the balanced development of students;improving teaching methods, and putting the the subjective initiative of students into full play; improving the evaluation methods of selective courses;enhancing teachers’ degree of specialization and research capacity; creating good atmosphere for tennis matches; endeavoring to better the unfavorable teaching conditions, and fostering good tennis teaching environment for students and teachers. |
