| In2003, the Ministry of Education promulgates the circular of carrying out excellentcourses construction in Colleges and Universities in order to make high-quality teachingresources shared by more people and improve the quality of teaching. From then on, excellentcourses construction has been launched in China. All national colleges and universities set off anupsurge of establishing excellent courses soon after. And up to the end of January in2013,20272excellent courses have been finished, including3832national excellent courses.The research forexcellent courses has been a hot spot and the research will be richer and more perfect, and thecontent of the research will be more comprehensive and more meticulous. Throughout therelational literature, the research mainly focuses on several aspects: the analysis of the currentsituation of the excellent course construction and the description of the thorough process ofconstructing an excellent course and how to design an excellent course website and analysis onlearning effect by the excellent courses. In some literature, the excellent course homepage designhas been mentioned, but it was mentioned roughly and the research was not complete. So far, thespecialized research on excellent course homepage design hardly exists. For these reasons, thewriter selects various elements (words and images and color) of excellent course homepagedesign as researched object and summaries excellent course homepage design principles andmethods, in order to provide some basis and reference for the excellent course homepagedesigner in the future.Firstly, through the case study method, the writer selects more than30homepages ofnational excellent courses as research the object and analyzes and summarizes all the problemson the visual elements (words and images and color) of the excellent course homepage andselects the typical homepage with problems. Then, the writer looks up in the related Literaturecombined cognitive theory and color theory and summarizes design principle and methods of allthe visual elements. In the end, according to design principle and methods of all the visualelements, the writer analyzes excellent course ‘Pedagogic’ of Guangxi Normal Universityperfectly and tests the practicality of the theory.The innovation of the research is that the writer sums up a complete set of system designprinciples and methods about the excellent course homepage and it overcomes the one-sidednessand mixture of the previous studies. Design principles and methods of the excellent coursehomepage is more comprehensive and professional and the aim is to provide some help and references for the designers of the excellent course homepage in the future. However, on the onehand, it is impossible to research every excellent course homepage because the writer has notenough time, on the other hand, the number of samples is too small or the samples are lack ofrepresentation and the conclusion is not comprehensive and systematic enough.
