Shyness is negative response in social interaction, which along with the frustration, itcan affect the level of participation of individual behavior and life goals to pursue.Self-disclosure is the process, which the individual show themselves and to share theirpersonal private information to others. Self-disclosure have a certain impact on theindividual’s interpersonal relationships and social adaptation. Social adaptation refers to theprocess, which individual accept the existing social lifestyle, ethics and codes of conduct.Shyness and self-disclosure has been concerned by a lot of psychological and educationalresearchers, whether shyness and self-disclosure affect adolescent’s social adjustment, howmuch impact, we have been thinking about the problem.Junior secondary students undergoing tremendous changes in physical andpsychological, understanding their psychological characteristics can effectively targeted tohelp front-line educators conducting educational work. With the depth of students’understanding, we find three different psychological characteristics of shyness,self-disclosure and social adaptation play a different role in the growth process of thestudents, what is the status of junior high school three psychological characteristics, whichis the relationship of the them, and these are the issues we need to study.In this study, we use "The Youth Shyness Scale","Youth and CompanionSelf-disclosure Questionnaire" and "Middle School Students’ Social Adjustment Scale" tostudy421junior high school students of Qingdao City, it designed to compare shy,differences in self-disclosure and social Adjustment in different junior high school grades,different genders, Through the use of correlation analysis, to explore the relationship of theJunior High School shyness and self-disclosure and social Adjustment. The results were asfollows:1, To social adjustment, there is significant difference in desirable behavior, therelationship between students and the relationship of teacher-student in junior boys andgirls, girls’ score higher than boys in general. there are significant differences in eachdimension for junior high school three grades. The score of Grade Seven is significantlyhigher than the other grades in the appropriate behavior, self-assurance, academic adaptation and the relationship between teachers and students; The score of Grade Eight issignificantly higher than the other grades in the dimension of the relationship betweenstudents.2, To Shyness aspects, Junior high school boys’ score higher than girls in alldimensions, which have a higher level of shyness than girls, there is significant differencein self-restraint and seek favor for junior high school boys and girls; there is significantdifference in self-restraint, heterosexual concern and seek favor in the three grade, Thedimension of self-limiting, the Grade Nine have the highest score, the Grade Seven is thelowest;the dimension of heterosexual attention and seek the favor is rising with increasinggrade.3, To Self-disclosure aspects, there is significant difference in the dimensions ofhobbies, school experience, viewpoints, attitudes, physical development for the junior highschool boys and girls; three isn’t significant difference for three grades.4, There is negative significant correlation between shyness and social adaptation ofjunior high school students; there is partly positive correlated and partly negativecorrelated between self-disclosure and social adjustment; there is negative correlationbetween shyness and self-disclosure, the higher the degree of shyness, the lower the degreeof self-disclosure.5, Self disclose acts the part of the intermediary role between shyness and socialadaptive behavior.
