With the advent of the era of information and the popularization of qualityeducation in our country, people pay more attention to the subject of InformationTechnology and its teaching position becomes higher and higher. But because of theteaching goal and its characteristics are different from the traditional disciplines, sothe traditional teaching means and teaching methods can not meet the needs of theteaching. As a result, the students’ learning interest is not high, and the students’divergent thinking ability can not be trained, and the teaching quality can not beraised. So the teaching present situation should be changed urgently. The emergenceof the theory of knowledge visualization and the application of the tools in teachingcan effectively help us to change the teaching present situation, and improve theteaching quality of this subject. Knowledge visualization is an emerging field, and itis the study of the effect about the knowledge representation in the process of creationand transmittance in more than two people. Knowledge visualization applicationfields are very wide, and education area is one of its main application fields.Knowledge visualization can not only promote the presentation and transmittance ofthe teaching information, it can also help the students to construct the knowledgeconstruction, and to improve the efficiency of students’ learning, and to promote theimprovement of teaching quality.Research on knowledge visualization would be carried on from threeperspectives, including the rationale, the software tools and the practical application.Firstly,we introduce the development of knowledge visualization and its related concepts, and the domestic and foreign research status. Then dual coding theory,schema theory, knowledge of psychology and brain science theory are introducedelaborately. From the perspectives of the software tools, one of the most typical kindsof knowledge visualization tools is discussed—Mind Map. It is introduced asparticular as possible. The drawing characteristics, and the two ways of hand-paintedand software drawing are included. Finally combined with the characteristics ofinformation technology subject and the characteristics of the Mind Map, a newinformation technology teaching mode is proposed. In terms of teaching experiment,we apply the knowledge visualization into information technology instruction. Wechoose two classes from the first class of Yanshan Middle School as our researchobjects. After two months of teaching experiment, the data is collected and analyzed.We get the final conclusion: the teaching model is very effective, and it confirms theassumption.This study uses literature review method, questionnaire survey method, interviewmethod and experimental approach method as the main research methods.
