Calligraphy, to some extent, can be described as the representative ambassador of China’sculture. In the ancient education system, the calligraphy education with a very strong practicalpurposes, always occupied a very important position. However, with the arrival of theinformation age, the new media tools have drawn people’s attention and the calligraphy has beenforced into edge of the practical field. Therefore, the calligraphy education began to fade. Today,with the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture and art being increasingly important,calligraphy as a national cultural memory of the classic comes to stage again. Meanwhile, withthe development of international exchanges, to show the world the most characteristics of cultureand art style is becoming an increasingly strong desire. As a result, the calligraphy educationbegan to be valued. Many scholars have called for to gradually erect a complete calligraphyeducation system in schools compulsory education, which had attracted the attention of therelevant national education sector.For the real problems in calligraphy education in high schools at a specific period fromvacancies to the construction and development, the paper is to do the following research:Firstly, the role of calligraphy plays in cultural heritage, connotation and denotation of thecalligraphy education, as well as the meaning and value of calligraphy education in improvingthe student’s writing ability, educating the humanities, and creating potential are describedrespectively.Secondly, questions on the survey of calligraphy education in senior secondary schools areraised and analyzed.In addition to school-based curriculum development of the calligraphy education, the papermakes a detailed study in the calligraphy teaching goals of Branch Campus of Qingdao No.2Middle School, calligraphy teaching content optimization, construction of teaching embodiment,evaluation, and curriculum resources.Finally, the possibility and prospect of the further development of calligraphy education arediscussed.Calligraphy is born from the utility, but also in the practical pursuit of artistic beauty. Acombination of the tradition and the modern, theoretical knowledge and practical experience, practical and artistic are focused on in teaching strategies in the paper. What’s more, thecurrent calligraphy education in the respect of individual teaching practice is explored andstudied.
