In this thesis, the author makes a research on the Interactive Approach and practical Englishassignment design based on the New Curriculum Standards. With the development of oureducation, the New Curriculum Reform emphasizes the students’ active performance, eagernessto make questions and participation in more practice. Students should be encouraged to grasp theknowledge and skills independently with the help of teachers. It is necessary to have a clear anddeep understanding of the nature of assignment so that we can adopt an appropriate teachingmethod. Assignment is an essential part of teaching, which is important for students tounderstand and consolidate what they have learned recently, reinforcing their self-learning andpractical abilities. As a matter of fact, through interviews and questionnaires, the author foundmany problems in Senior English assignment design. Although some teachers designed newforms of assignment, they pay more attention to the teaching process, unified standards,exercises, and the form of assignment. According to our New Curriculum, cooperation and skillsshould be taken into consideration, as well as the individual character. Because of thedisadvantages, students lose their interests, and become tired of learning.“TIPS”first adopted in the1990s byAmerican is a new assignment design, which means aspecial cooperation among the students parents, their classmates, even their teachers. Just asBrown says,“Interaction is the collaborative exchange of thoughts, feelings, or ideas betweentwo or more people resulting in a reciprocal effect on each other.”(H. Douglas Brown,2001:159).The interactive approach proposes that skills and knowledge at all levels should work with eachother to improve the students’ abilities. Compared with the kids, the students in Senior Highschool are on the stage that is very important for their study and growth. Based on theconstructivism and the Multiple Intelligences theory, the author makes a study about thecooperation between the teachers and students or the students and students, which is the onlypart of interactive approach. To arouse all students’ interests of learning English and improve thecooperative activities between teachers and students or students and their classmates are the aimsof the New Curriculum in which interactive approach plays a significant role. The subjects are120freshmen from two classes of Grade Two. Class1is regarded asControl Group (CG) and the other class is class2that is considered as Experiment Group (EG).The author uses questionnaires, interviews and tests to explain why and how the experimentgroup can improve their abilities. In the research, the author adopts different kinds of interactiveassignment designs, including real-life interactive assignment design, individualized interactiveassignment design and practical interactive assignment design. Generally speaking, the resultscan confirm that interactive approach to Senior High English assignment design has an importantinfluence on the students’ English learning. What’s more, this interactive approach can offer theopportunities to improve the students’ abilities, including the language skills, emotional attitudes,learning strategies and cultural awareness. Language skills consist of reading, writing, speakingand listening. Emotional attitude is a combination of cooperation, motivation, interest andself-confidence. Cultural awareness gives the students the description of cultural understandingand cross-cultural. As for the learning strategies, cognitive strategies, monitor strategies,communicative strategies, and resources strategies are the main elements.The thesis is made up of six chapters. Chapter one is the introduction of the research, whichgives the background and significance of the research as well as the organization of the thesis.Chapter two is literature review about the research on English assignment, including thedefinition, function, purpose and type of the English Assignment. Chapter three is the theoreticalwork where the author makes a detailed analysis of the Constructivism learning theory andMultiple Intelligences theory as well as the their effects. Chapter four is composed of pre-test,post-test, interviews and questionnaires, which can help the author to get the further informationfor analysis. Chapter five is the data analyze and the discussion. Chapter six is the conclusion ofthe research, which includes the limitations of the thesis and the suggestions for furtherinvestigation.
