Objective:The purposes of this study were to supply academic basis for the scientific programs of badminton training, prevention and cure of sport injuries, design and manufacture of badminton footwear by means of describing kinematics characteristics of a three-dimensional shank-foot model in badminton right front-court lunge step (BRFLS) and badminton and left front-court lunge step (BLFLS).Methods:taking the elite badminton male athletes from adult students as research subjects (height:177.50±4.38cm, weight:70.25±4.94kg, exercise period:5.25±3.92yrs), every one carried out the BRF-LS and BLFLS through Three pairs of shoes in each pair on the half of the badminton field, at the same time, using three synchronized high-speed video cameras (200Hz) capturing the motion of the shank-foot model, then, using the methods of analysis of three-dimensional images and comparing the kinematics indexes with each other in the same footwear and the same footwork. Results:During the landing of the BRFLS and the BLFLS, the speed is quick and the time is short;ankle angle increased firstly and then decreased; the angle between the calf and sagittal of the BLFLS is bigger than the BRFLS, in contrast with the angle between the foot and sagittal;the foot valgus angle of the three different types of the Badminton footwear were the same when making the same footwork, but, the foot valgus angle of the N type of the Badminton footwear of the BLFLS was bigger than the BRFLS; during the independent support pattern of the rearfoot, the rearfoot-shoe heel with about14.6percent of the buffer period of time reduced about32.7percent of the buffer period of speed. Conclusions:The analysis methed of the three-dimensional image can comprehen-sively and accurately evaluate the kinematics of the BRFLS and the BLFLS in badmin-ton. During landing, the leg from outreach to adduction was comparing with the foot-shoe from varus to eversion, the leg-foot-shoe maintained consistency in movement. Before the landing the foot made varus and then becomed to eversion during landing, the bakehand of the pedal stride of the front field in Badminton was bigger than the forehand on the angle between the calf and sagittal, in contrast with the angle between the foot and sagittal. The badminton footwear must enhance the stability of the rearfoot, the preventing ankles to excessive flip, in order to benefit to make footworks and protect the ankles of the lower limb.
