The moral imperative is tending to be ignored while people are pursuing materialdemand in today’s era which the social economy is developing with high speed and materialresources are plentiful. The college students should have full sense of social responsibilitywhile they are regarded as the reserve talented people for the developing of the country.Nevertheless, with the survey launched, the current situation is found that the sense of socialresponsibility of the modern college students is generally positive and advanced, in the meantime, some problems are found as well, including the concept of the social responsibility isambiguous, the levels of understanding is superficial, the sense of social responsibility isbecoming more and more utilitarian,the responsibility for inheriting China’s fine traditionalculture is ignored and the college students’ sense of social responsibility is becoming weak.Only the modern college students have the high social responsibility, get lofty moral character,define their own role identities and obligations, can they achieve self-realization in a realsense and shoulder the historical mission of building the state.This article was based on the relevance theory of the social responsibility, defined thebasic connotation of the college students’ sense of responsibility, clarified the process of thecollege students’ sense of responsibility, summarized the problems of social responsibility ofmodern college students through their behaviors and the phenomenons in the contemporarysociety, analyzed the causes of the problems from society, family, college and the students’own aspects, and the countermeasures of enhancing the college students’ social responsibilitywere presented.
