The Study On Student Loans In Inner Mongolia

With the social and economic development, college tuition is increasing every year. In order to make the poor students not to be affected by their financial difficulties, the country continues to strengthen the Student Financial Aid. Student credit loan was carried out from2008across the. country. The implementation of the student loan policy, largely alleviated the plight of poor students and ensured the education equity. But with the development of this policy, some defects and problems were also revealed to be demonstrated and resolve.In this paper, an empirical study was taken on the implementation status of students credit loans in Inner Mongolia. The empirical research reveals some defects and problems, including the insufficient supply of loans, the cumbersome procedure, the single method of repayment, the less of college publicity and post-loan management, the unawareness of borrowing student’s and the social credit, the risk of the potential credit risk and so on. Reasons for these problems can be summarized as the following four points:First, the government-led functioning is not in place; Second, banks are not enthusiastic and the defects in designing of the loan system; Third, management awareness and management capacity of universities and county-funded center is not strong; The last, students’loan repayment pressure.Analyzing the problem and the cause of the problem, learning from the advanced experience of foreign countries, several suggestions are made to improve student loan system in Inner Mongolia. First of all, the government should formulate relevant laws and regulations of the Student Loans; Second, banks should optimize the existing Student Loans system; Third, universities and county-funded center should sound institutions to improve risk prevention and management level; The last, students should improve the sense of integrity and repayment ability. Through this study we hope to provide research results and suggestions for the reform and development of Student Loans Management in Inner Mongolia.
