After entering the21st century, under the direct leadership and strong support ofthe State Council, the Ministry of Education comprehensively promotes quality-orientededucation in order to implement “the strategy of revitalizing China through science andeducation”, launching a new round of basic education curriculum reform. As historyteachers of high school, how to penetrate educational reform thoughts into educationand teaching to lay the foundation of sustainable development for the students, and howto improve teaching efficiency with scientific teaching ways and means have becomethe important historical responsibilities to us. Combining the successful experience ofinternational concept teaching, standing on history teaching practice of secondaryschool, and studying history concept teaching of secondary school suitable for nationaleducation conditions are of great benefit to improving the effectiveness of secondaryschool history teaching and mobilizing the enthusiasm of teachers teaching and studentslearning the history.With concept map method, cooperative learning method and analogue method, thispaper illustrates the research of history concept teaching in secondary schools from fouraspects, which are development and definition of concept teaching, possibility andnecessity of applying concept teaching in history classes of secondary school, thespecific strategies and steps of concept teaching in secondary school, and significanceof concept teaching in secondary school. History concept teaching method in secondaryschool is different from any previous historical teaching method; a new teaching systemis built at the same time of exploring an effective way of history learning for secondaryschool students and teaching strategies for teachers from the perspective of conceptualchange. It is benefit for students to develop the team spirit and cooperative spirit; forenhancing teachers’ academic and teaching level, changing the teaching concepts; forenriching the concept teaching theoretical system, enhancing its scientific basis; forpromoting in-depth development of the new curriculum reform; for resolving theteaching difficulties of teachers and students caused by the convergence of middle andhigh school history curriculums; and for enhancing the effectiveness of high schoolhistory teaching. Of course, history concept teaching in secondary school is still in theresearch stage. There are some limitations and shortcomings in the implementationprocess, for example, plenty of teacher support is needed, there shall not be too manystudents in a class, the classroom discipline shall be in order, and multimedia support isrequired, etc. It is expected that through continuous efforts and research, history conceptteaching in secondary school is getting more and more perfect and show extraordinarybrilliance.
