This paper studies the status of Public Physical Health Care course in higher education institutions in Jiangsu Province through literature review, questionnaire survey, interview, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, aiming to find out problems existed in this course, the influencing factors, and to figure out appropriate countermeasures and solutions.The results are as below:1. Students studying Public Physical Health Care course in Jiangsu Province are divided into four types:the disabled type, the ailing type, the weak type, and the injured type with the highest proportion.2. The leadership of most Sports Department in higher education institutions attaches great importance on teaching of Physical Health Care courses, and the approval procedures for students to enter the Health Care courses are standardized.3. The teachers can stick to the guiding ideology of "Health is Paramount" and are able to choose appropriate educational philosophy according to the learner.4. A large proportion of Physical Health Care classes are specially set up, and the majority of teachers can give lectures during normal school hours. However, most colleges are not equipped with teaching materials.5. Part of the teaching content of Public Physical Health Care courses in Jiangsu Province are not of students’interest.6. The students still have higher expectations for teachers on humane care.7. A high proportion of students of Physical Health Care courses in Jiangsu Province participate in extracurricular activities, and show a good state in many aspects after the exercises, but the exercise time and frequency are relatively insufficient.8. The academic qualifications and professional titles of the teachers of Public Physical Health Care courses in Jiangsu Province are reasonable. These teachers, with a strong sense of scientific research, are mainly young on the age structure. Their foreign language proficiency and their use of modern teaching method are closely related with their age.9. Training on teachers and their further studies are not ideal.10. The sports ground and equipment can meet the basic needs of physical health care teaching and students’ extracurricular sports activities, but is still far from pefect.To further perfect the teaching of Public Physical Health Care courses in higher education institutions in Jiangsu Province and improve the teaching quality, we should continue to enhance public awareness on Public Physical Health Care courses, establish complete management system, file students’health condition, increase concerns on them, adjust teaching contents as appropriate, develop exercise prescriptions, accelerate improvement of teaching materials, overall enhance the eligibility of teacher resources, build a professional teacher team, regulate appraisal contents and approaches so as to reflect students’learning outcome, organize and encourage students to do extracurricular physical exercises, cultivate their life-long physical consciousness and increase investment on sports grounds and falicities. |
