Oregon Vocational Interest Inventory (orvis) Preliminary Revision

Vocational interest scales is very important in careers guidance as a scientific and effective measuring tool. Oregon Vocational Interest Scales was build by famous psychometrics L.R.Goldberg.This paper revised Oregon Vocational Interest Scales (ORVIS), which subject was1082college student from the northern, middle and the southern of JiangSu province. Base on translation and three times revising, this study formed the Chinese edition of Oregon Vocational Interest Scales (ORVIS) and compiled gender and major type norm. Specific results as follow:(1)By three times revised there are11items were deleted, after adding polygraph questions the Chinese edition of Oregon Vocational Interest Scales (ORVIS) was completed. Chinese edition of ORVIS has8dimensions,85items, include4polygraph questions.(2)The coefficient of internal consistency of total scale is0.927;eight dimensions α is between0.725and0.831, mean is0.789; interval of two weeks test-retest reliability coefficient is between0.798to0.856, mean is0.834(3)After revised and checked by several psychology expert, the Chinese edition of scale is of high content validity.The correlation between dimensions is from0.1to0.6,and the correlation between each dimension and total score is from0.3to0.8:by each dimension summation exploratory factor analysis,the KMO is0.809, Bartlett test of sphericity (p=0.000),eight major factors account for84.72%of the total variance,sub-dimension item of each factor is consistent with English edition of scale, structure validity is validated to be good.About criterion validity, significant difference between major types has been found in seven dimension sub-scales:also significant correlation between congruence and degree of satisfaction,desire of change major has been found,criterion validity of scale is validated to be good.
