Self learning is a high-effective study model which can meet the needs of thedevelopment of society and is greatly advised and promoted by many educationistsand teachers. Cultivating students to master this kind of study model is the demandof curriculum revolution, and also a requirement for individuals’ lifelong continuabledevelopment. On the basis of many advanced modern education theories andaccumulated teaching experience, through large number of questionnaire surveys, theauthor analyzes the current situation of the teaching and learning of the subject ofhistory in senior high schools and finds the elements that influence students’ learning,furthermore, develops a series of strategies about students’ self learning.Firstly, to improve teachers’ quality and level of modern educationalconceptions and techniques. Teachers should adjust their previous educationalconceptions, and put stress on developing students’ abilities to analyze and solveproblems and their well-organized lingual expressions and teamwork. To fulfill it,teachers need to improve their own all-round skills and to be rich in knowledge,making themselves like a real encyclopedia. On the other hand, the defect of currenttextbooks limits students to develop the ability of self learning, so teachers also needto be skilled in integrating their teaching materials in order to get an expectedteaching result.Secondly, to inspire and develop students’ motivation to learn. In order toachieve it, teachers need to give lessons in a vivid, easy and practical atmospherethrough adding some necessary historical materials and leading them to currentworld events which can help students understand the teaching aim. And teachers maydirect students to role-play the historical events lively. Meanwhile, teachers utilizethe modern Information Technology to set up their own teaching resources databasefor further uses and sharing with other teachers. By such means, students’ enthusiasmof learning can be effectively promoted.Thirdly, to carry out a new class teaching model. To make students the main partof the whole teaching procedure and to emphasize their initiative to learn. Teachers try to use the new practical model to guide students to follow a scientific analyzingmethod to read learning materials, querying, discussing and finding solutions.Meanwhile, teachers can use multimedia as a effective teaching tool and build up ascientific all-round evaluation system aiming to better students’ confidence andinitiative.In the process of applying the model of self learning into practice, some morequestions deserve to be deeply considered, such as class period guarantee, teacheradvanced studies, and so on. All in all, promoting individuals’ learning ability is apermanent subject worth all educators researching profoundly.
