The application-type regular university is a kind of new-type university which is built inspired by the western higher educational trend of thought, under the pressure of competition between colleges or universities, with the change of qualified personnel demand of social-economic development of china. As a new-type university which trains advanced applicative specialized talents, the application-type regular university has some hard problems in its developmental process inevitably. Among them, the applicability of Specialized Textbooks is a basic and often neglected problem which restrict the development of the application-type regular university. If this problem can’t be resolved, the application-type regular university can’t train applicative specialized talents in real meaning, and its application characteristics will inevitably become a mere formality, and it will make itself in a predicament of development eventually.In this study, the author take materials physical specialty of TZ university as a Case and research the applicability of specialized textbooks for the application-type regular university from the perspective of teaching management, explore the research status of textbook both at home and abroad and clear related concepts by means of literature, investigate service condition of materials physical specialized textbooks of TZ university by methods of case analysis, questionnaires and interviews.Firstly, problems of the applicability of specialized textbooks for case-study school have been revealed:The content of some textbooks is obsolete; The endemic and pertinent textbooks are scarce; The selection of textbooks tends toward academic "authoritative textbooks"; Students complain that the current specialized textbooks are not correspondent with actual conditions of study and work; Teachers say that the specialized textbooks are applicable, but actually don’t use these textbooks in class teaching. Secondly, the causes of these problems are analysed:School-running orientation of the application-type regular university is not clear because of the lack of policy guidance; There is no evaluation standard of applicability for Specialized textbooks; Schools are so eager for quick success and instant benefit as to neglect textbooks construction; Inperfect management of teaching materials leads to the random choice of textbooks; schools neglect the construction of textbook compiling group and the compiling work lack the drive mechanism. Finally, solution and improvement countermeasures are proposed:reexamining the status of the application-type regular university; Constructing evaluation standard of applicability for Specialized textbooks from four dimensions; Strengthening textbooks construction; establishing perfect management system; Cultivating textbook compiling group; Establishing the capital supporting systems of textbook publication; Strengthening cooperation between school and enterprise; Building textbook information base on internet. The author hope that this paper can draw a close attention from all the related parts and bring forward some countermeasure and suggestion for reference.
