“Depth of Chinese” is a slogan of Chinese teaching put forward by a group of “newgeneration” Chinese teachers according to the present status of superficial and outmodedknowledge in Chinese teaching. It’s not only refers to a new Chinese teaching concept butalso refers to an emerging Chinese teaching schools. The main advocates include GanGuoxiang, Guo Chuyang, Wang Kaidong, Wei Zhiyuan and so on. The Representative worksis Depth of Chinese Written by Wang Kaidong.Depth of Chinese teaching thought is still scattered across the advocates’ classroomrecords, did not form system of thought. Based on the depth of Chinese advocates’ classroomrecords, using teaching theory framework, this paper summaries main ideas of Depth ofChinese, from the aspects of Depth of Chinese teaching value orientation, Depth of Chineseteaching principles, Depth of Chinese classroom teaching content, the ways of achievingDepth of Chinese classroom and Depth of Chinese teachers and students’ quality to interpretDepth of Chinese teaching thought. In order to better reflect Depth of Chinese teachingthought characteristics, this paper selects the classroom memoir and text interpretationexamples which can reflect the depth of Chinese teaching characteristics well and analyze itbriefly. Scholars hold different attitudes to Depth of Chinese, based on Depth of Chineseteaching ideas, this paper makes an objective evaluation from Depth of Chinese meaning oftimes and Depth of Chinese limitations two aspects.
