Statistical concepts have become a generally applicable and quite powerful way ofthinking in the information society and own statistical knowledge has become theessential quintiles of the modern citizen. Mathematics Curriculum Standards in thePhase of Full-time Compulsory Education puts forwards “Experience the process ofdescription and concluding information by date” in the overall goal and take“statistical concepts” as important goal of full-time compulsory education and make“statistics and probability” as one of the four areas in middle school mathematicslearning, which signifying its educational value.This study begins after10years of the curriculum, mainly focus on the staticallyliteracy status and characteristics of the junior middle school students. Specifically, itmainly study the following four questions: what is the status quo of the junior middleschool student in statistics learning? How about the characteristic of the junior middleschool student in statistics learning? What concepts are difficult for junior middleschool to understand? What relation between the statistics concept and ability?This study organized the related review at home and aboard and formed a theoreticalframework of statistical literacy in junior middle school students, then though the wayof literature, interviews, comparatives, questionnaires and experiment to descriptivethe status of statistical learning, then analysis the differential by the SOLO taxonomy.This study focuses on the status quo and development characteristics of junior middleschool students and concerns on whether the students’ learning and teachers’ teachingfit to the requirement of the new curriculum after the statistics add in to middle schoolcurriculum. The test object is Hepan junior middle school, the sixth junior middle andthe No.2junior middle school attached to Northwest Normal University, which ofthem are from Gansu province, and Fangzhen junior middle school in shaanxiprovince, besides, we also investigated the key teachers from Hunan, Sichuan,Xinjiang, Gansu and Ningxia. By the investigation results, we mainly did thefollowing two works: first, by the SOLO taxonomy, we divided the students’statistical literacy and according to the comparisons of whether the questionnaires andexperiment to get the status of the junior middle students’statistics leaning.Secondly,according to the investigation of key teachers to testify the frontal results and put forwards for the suggestions. And this study mainly obtained the following fourresults:First,overall,the statistical literacy of junior middle students is at a medium level andsome students still need to be improved.Second, there is an increasing trend of statistical literacy by grades and sexes nogender difference for junior middle school students.Thirds, the difficult understanding concepts of statistical concepts are: Mean, Variancestandard deviation and Sample.Fourth, there has mid relevance between statistical concepts and statistical ability.
