This paper, through daily teaching performance, referenceconsultation, questionnaire and interview, does the research onsome problems existing in Chinese painting teaching of theprimary school, which deal with aspects of whether thetraditional schema teaching is adapted to the initial of theChinese painting education for the kids at present, or inkpainting is a better way in the beginning period or the both canbe integratedThe investigation shows that the traditional schema teachingstill plays an important role in the initial period for the kids tolearn Chinese painting. Kids ink painting, like the traditionalschema, is merely an approach or a process to acquire thepainting skills rather than an ultimate goal. From theinvestigation, the schema in the children’s eyes are quitedifferent from that in the adults’ and, therefore, the adults mustnot impose their aesthetic tendency onto the children. Sowhen the western teaching concept is introduced, the essence ofthe traditional teaching method cannot be deserted, and hencethe first problem to be settled is for the art teachers to promotethemselves in the theoretic understanding, their artperformance and art appreciative ability.
