College Counselors who work at the front line of ideological and political arethe grass-roots commanders and educators of the ideological and political work. TheCounselors’ qualities and level of work have a direct effect on the college students’healthy growth. Students work is changing from traditional management toeducational services with the reform of the working mode of the college students. Itis a greater emphasis on education counseling and services for the development ofstudents. The work of the specialized counselors is also increasingly higher. If thereis no accumulation of certain professional skills and experience, students work canonly stay on the management and affairs of the surface, it is difficult to provide atruly effective guidance to the students’ growth. Therefore, the ideological andpolitical work of universities in the new situation need a group of professional andspecialized counselors in universities. How to provoke the college counselors’enthusiasm initiative and creativity effectively and combine their own developmentwith the strategic development of universities are the speculative problems in collegecounselors’career management.On the basis of integrated use of management theory of “Career Planning andManagement”, the author has a deep and all-around research in the careermanagement of college constructor by using literature analysis, interviews andquestionnaires. First, the author analyze the current situation and the existingproblems of career management of college conductors, then tries to conduct apreliminary inquiry of college counselor career management. The main content andresearch way of this paper are:The first part sets forth the reason why the author choose this subject andcurrent research in and out of China, analyzes the significance of this research, andthen introduces the content and method of the research. The second part on theprincipal of the related concepts and theories, such as: the meaning of Career andCareer Management, the connotation of college counselors’ career development.The development cycle of college counselors’ career is divided into three stagesmainly references the career development cycle theory. College counselors at eachstage have different occupational status, face different career development task andundertake different duty to the different development requirements. Third, in order to find out the current situation and problem of career management in universitycounselors, makes a questionnaire and visit to university teachers and personneldivisions, and then makes clear about the achievement also problems and obstaclesexisted. The fourth part of the article puts forward specific measures onstrengthening the college counselors’ career management, such as: the introductionof the career management concept, improve the management system of careermanagement, establish the goal of college counselors’career development, formulatethe plane of college counselors’career development, perfects the training mechanism,improves the incentive mechanism, and guides college counselors active participatein career management. These definite measures to the college counselors’ careermanagement have some reference value and practical guiding significance. In theconclusion, this paper affirms partial achievements obtained in my research, alsopoints out deficiency existed, so as to make it more perfect in my further research.Applying creatively the theory of career management to the management of thecounselors in the universities, we make suggestions about particular measures ofcareer management from aspects of counselors themselves and organization inuniversities, according to the different stage of professional career of the counselors.All these have theoretical and practical significance for optimizing humanresources, improving the level of college career management and development,deepening structural reform inside colleges and universities.
