The design of teaching is the important factor to influence the quality of classroom teaching, and it is the basic condition to implement the curriculum concept and curriculum reform. With the development of curriculum reform, it is a huge challenge for physical education,of course, the design of teaching research is also very important.Cheerleading is a sport with dynamic music, exaggerated energetic movements and modeling, inspired slogan, collective collaboration and passionate expressive force and the power that emerging in recent years, it is an important role to enhance the health of students’ physical and mental, cultivate the spirit of teamwork and enhance the aesthetic ability. This is in line with Chinese trend of physical education reform. Some universities in Xi’an open cheerleading course in order to actively respond to the development of physical education curriculum requirements, aims to improve the students’ enthusiasm for learning and physical and mental health.The subjects of study were some students of cheerleading option courses of Xi’an colleges. The study combined with the development of physical education curriculum in need, explore and study the present situation of cheerleading curriculum and give the cheerleading teachers a teaching design scheme for reference with questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics method, the method of literature and interviews and other methods. Through the Investigation and analysis of the current situation of the cheerleading option courses, we draw the following conclusions:1. The college students in Xi’an like the cheerleading sport, the development of these universities’ physical education and health curriculum in cheerleading option curriculum is poor, and the professional teachers is less, it is the main reason that the school leaders have no enough attention on it.2. There is no uniform and specific syllabus and requirements in exercise teaching and examination. At the same time, there are some subjective factors in teaching content examination contents, methods and results.3. Through the investigation and study of cheerleading option class in College of Xi’an, and the communicate with cheerleading teachers, experts and students, and consult with lots of cheerleading and teaching design of relevant documents on the cheerleading option curriculum teaching objectives, content, methods, assessment content and method, we design a new scheme to provide reference for cheerleading option class teachers in Xi’an. The design of teaching has no practice verification, therefore, it need to be further practice test.
