Establishing a scientific head teachers’evaluation mechanism is to achieve scientific school management, to enhance the enthusiasm of the head teachers’. And it’s also an important guarantee to implement quality-oriented education completely. In China, some scholars and school administrators have done some studies on the related questions about the head teachers’work, but most of these studies are on the responsibilities, tasks, requirements of head teachers. So these studies are lack of deep study of the role of head teacher himself in the evaluation, the growth and development of head teacher. From the current studies, few scholars have the theoretical study of the head teacher evaluation system, and they even have few systematic empirical investigations.This article is based on the investigations and interviews of head teacher evaluation work including the subject evaluations, contents, forms, procedures, results and other aspects in Panzhihua PE Middle School. This article reveals the problems in the evaluation of head teachers’work by means of the investigation data and the analysis of typical cases. The investigation showes that the current state of head teacher evaluation is not ideal, the head teachers generally have low satisfaction degrees. The majority of head teachers thought that the goal of evaluation is to unpack the head teachers superiority and inferiority. So they have different opinions on evaluation scheme, the evaluation index number, the rationality of index design, maneuverability, weight distribution, evaluation methods and so on. They hope that the evaluation subjects should be composed by the leaders of function departments, students, subject teachers, school administritors, head teacher himself and parents together. The majority of head teachers are satisfied with the evaluation procedures. The vast majority head teachers hope that school could help them analyze their successes and failures, and give them some improving suggestions after evaluation. From the investigation results, the causes of these problems are from a wide range, not only from education authorities and schools, but also from head teacher himself and subject teachers.In order to improve the existing head teacher evaluation system, based on some less ideal causes of head teacher evaluation in PE Middle School, this article chooses a school as typical case, and proposes some corresponding countermeasures or suggestions from four aspects including education authorities, school management, head teacher himself and subject teachers. |
